I want more! I loved reading this book and the previous two entries in J.D. Barker’s 4MK trilogy and I am very sad that it is over.
Following the events of The Fifth To Die, chaos is erupting. Bodies possibly linked to 4MK are being discovered around Chicago and as far away as South Carolina. A hospital is on lockdown and there may be a killer within. Detective Porter is being hunted by the FBI and believed by many to be the 4MK.
I am purposefully keeping the description of the book short and vague because I don’t want to take anything away from future readers. There is enough going on here for several books but Barker weaves all the sub-plots together beautifully. The pace of the story never lets up and it is filled with one surprise after another leaving the reader coming to an assumption/opinion on one page, only to have it blown away on the next.
With such a far-reaching, twisting, and turning story, Barker does an excellent job at tying up all loose ends and keeping everything in a cohesive, easy-to-follow manner. Often similar books leave me with questions but I didn’t feel that at all with this book/trilogy. It just left me satisfied and wanting more but in a good way.
The books of the 4MK trilogy were the first I’ve read by J.D. Barker but they will not be the last. I highly recommend these books to all fans of Suspense, Mystery, and Thrillers.
